Modulation

Chorus

Ableton

Chorus-Ensemble is a modulation effect that thickens sounds using time-modulated delay lines. It offers three distinct modes—Classic, Ensemble, and Vibrato—for creating everything from subtle chorus and flanging to intense string ensemble and pitch-variation effects, with controls for stereo width, high-pass filtering, and harmonic shaping via feedback and warmth.

Key Features

01Three modes: Classic, Ensemble, and Vibrato
02Two or three delay line architecture depending on mode
03Rate control (Hz-based modulation frequency)
04Amount parameter for modulation depth
05Feedback with phase inversion (Ø button)
06High-pass filter (20 Hz to 2000 Hz)
07Width control for stereo imaging in Classic/Ensemble modes
08Warmth parameter for harmonic coloration
09Offset and Shape controls in Vibrato mode

Things to Try

  • 01Use Ensemble mode at a rate between 1 Hz and 1.8 Hz with 100% Amount on dry guitars to create a typical surf-rock sound
  • 02Automate the Feedback Invert toggle at Feedback levels greater than 90% to create massive bursts of decaying oscillations
