EVOC 20 TrackOscillator is a vocoder plugin with a monophonic pitch tracking oscillator that analyzes and transfers the sonic character of an input signal to synthesized sound. It features dual formant filter banks for analysis and synthesis, U/V detection for improved speech intelligibility, and an FM synthesis engine that tracks incoming pitch—making it ideal for classic vocoder effects, pitch-tracking synthesis, and creative filtering applications.

Things to Try

  • 01Set Attack to the lowest possible value and Release around 8-10 ms for enhanced articulation on percussive input signals like spoken word or hi-hat
  • 02Use the Freeze button to capture a particular vowel or sustained characteristic of a vocal phrase, then lock it across gaps in the vocal part
  • 03Set Bands to 10-15 as a compromise between sonic precision and resource usage for intelligible speech and vocals
  • 04Combine Formant Shift upward with speech signals to create 'Mickey Mouse' effects by shifting the synthesis filter bank bands up in frequency
