Pre TridA is an analog emulation of the legendary Trident A console's preamp and EQ section, delivering the iconic colored sound that shaped classic rock recordings. Built with Arturia's TAE technology for precise circuit modeling, it combines harmonic saturation from the preamp with a unique 4-band EQ featuring inductor-based coloration and switchable high/low-pass filters. Pre TridA captures the distinctive character that made Trident A studios famous while adding modern flexibility like stereo and mid-side processing modes.

Things to Try

  • 01Raise Input Gain to -30 dB and monitor the VU meter to add saturation and clipping distortion when the signal reaches the 'power supply level'
  • 02Engage the low-pass filters on bright sources like cymbals to reduce prominence, then adjust High Shelf EQ around 9k Hz to bring brightness back with altered timbre
  • 03Experiment with different high-pass filter combinations (pressing one, two, or three buttons simultaneously) on drum sources to find the best-sounding cutoff curve
  • 04Increase the Low Shelf EQ around 100-150 Hz to boost kick drum prominence with different tonal character
