Dynamic EQ

bloom

Oeksound

bloom is an adaptive tone shaper that analyzes incoming signals and applies dynamic, context-aware corrections to perceived tonal balance. It combines broad-stroke EQ functionality with frequency-dependent compression, allowing for intuitive tonal adjustments—from adding warmth and clarity to controlling resonances—while maintaining natural sound character even during radical changes.

Key Features

01Adaptive tone shaping with automatic level-independent processing (0-7 amount range)
02Squash mode with frequency-dependent compression mapped to equal-loudness contour (amount 7-10)
03Four tone controls (lows, lo-mids, hi-mids, highs) with independent frequency adjustment
04Processing graph with draggable upper/lower range handles and include/exclude modes
05Low-latency mode for tracking (1.33ms at 44.1kHz, 2.67ms at 88.2kHz)
06Three quality modes: normal, high, and low latency with mixed-phase or minimum-phase responses
07Stereo processing with linked, M/S split, and L/R split modes
08Low-cut and high-cut output filters with 18dB/oct slopes

Things to Try

  • 01Start with Factory default preset at amount 7.0, then adjust tone controls to taste
  • 02Use the 'set' button on wet trim to automatically match input/output levels (LUFS) for easier A/B comparison
  • 03Engage squash mode by raising amount above 7.0 to apply frequency-dependent compression for drastic tonal shaping
  • 04In split stereo modes, adjust tone controls separately per channel (L/R or M/S) to emphasize different frequency areas on each side
