Infected Mushroom I Wish

Polyverse

Infected Mushroom I Wish is a granular note freezer that captures tiny loops at the wavelength of incoming MIDI notes, combining the pitch of played notes with the frequency content of audio input. It enables creation of musical effects ranging from robotic speech and glitchy textures to synthetic sounds, recreating the manual loop-chopping technique Infected Mushroom used on their track "I Wish" but instantly rather than over several days.

Key Features

01Granular note freezer with wavelength-based loop capture
02PITCH and FORMANT controls with ±2 octave range in semitone steps
03X-FADE control for loop smoothing via crossfade
04LFO with 6 shapes: sine, triangle, saw down, square, random, and smoothed random
05Envelope modulation with DELAY (0-5s), CURVE, and DECAY (0-5s) stages
06Polyphony modes including Mono and Legato with glide control
07MIDI delay up to 1 second with Pitch mode for wavelength-based timing

Things to Try

  • 01Use LINK control to create tape-like effects by linking PITCH and FORMANT controls together
  • 02Set DELAY all the way to the right to enter Pitch mode, which uses the note's wavelength to determine delay time for more natural live playing behavior
  • 03Apply X-FADE control to smooth loop transitions by adjusting the crossfade duration between loop beginning and end
  • 04Enable RETRIG to reset LFO position at the beginning of each MIDI note for synchronized modulation effects
