DoubleComb Comb Filter

Reason Studios

DoubleComb Comb Filter is a Rack Extension comb filter with exclusive positive/negative mode morphing capabilities. It creates copies of a signal to work simultaneously as a delay and filter, using phase offsets to build resonant peaks that reshape waveforms into a comb-like pattern. What makes it distinctive is the ability to morph between Positive and Negative modes at the same time, along with the widest frequency range (20Hz to 25kHz) available in Reason devices and Rack Extensions.

Key Features

01Dual comb filters with morphing between Positive and Negative modes
02Frequency range from 20Hz to 25kHz
03Frequency and Resonance controls for peak shaping
04Note Mode with Filter Keytracking (select notes A0 to C8)
05Neutral sum mode at 50% Positive/Negative morphing
06Morphing parameter for blending two individual filter settings
07Dry/Wet Blend control
08Soft Bypass variant

Things to Try

  • 01Use Note Mode to activate Filter Keytracking and link the comb filter to incoming MIDI note frequencies for melodic filtering
  • 02Set Morphing parameter to explore the middle ground between Positive and Negative modes for the neutral 50% sum of peaks
  • 03Adjust Frequency knob (20Hz to 25kHz range) to change the length between resonant peaks and Resonance to set the strength of peaks
  • 04Use Blend control to mix the dry signal with the filtered comb effect for adjustable processing intensity
