The ECF-42 is a multimode envelope-controlled filter designed for pattern-driven filter and envelope effects in Reason Studios' ecosystem. It combines a flexible filter section with a built-in ADSR envelope generator, capable of being triggered via CV/Gate signals or MIDI notes to create dynamic, time-modulated filter sweeps. Best used as an insert effect, the ECF-42 excels at creating synthesized percussion and pattern-controlled filter modulation.

Things to Try

  • 01Set Env Amt and Vel knobs on the ECF-42 to approximately 40 while playing gate patterns in a Matrix to hear envelope-triggered filter modulation on held chords
  • 02Lower the filter Freq parameter and raise the Res value if the filter effect is not noticeable when triggering the envelope
  • 03Connect Redrum drum channel gate outputs to a Spider CV merger, then route the merged output to the ECF-42 Env Gate input to apply envelope-controlled filtering across multiple drum hits
  • 04Turn LFO Freq Mod to zero and connect an LFO to the Freq CV input to create static, formant-like filter effects with emphasis on resonance feedback
