The Tube-Tech CL 1B is a dynamics compressor plugin that faithfully models the hardware original's unique gain-reduction circuit based on non-semiconductor components. It features an Attack/Release Select switch offering Fixed, Manual, and combined FIX./MAN. modes, with the latter enabling program-dependent release slopes where fast peaks trigger faster release times. The plugin delivers both transparent and characterful compression across a wide range of sources.

Things to Try

  • 01Use FIX./MAN. mode with Attack at 2 o'clock and Release at 10 o'clock for overall mix compression requiring 3-4 dB of gain reduction
  • 02Apply Manual mode with Attack at 2 o'clock, Release at 10 o'clock, and Ratio at 10-2 o'clock for standard compression on bass, piano, guitar, keys, and vocals
  • 03Set Manual mode with Attack at 7 o'clock, Release at 1 o'clock, and Ratio at 3 o'clock for heavy compression on line guitar and piano
  • 04Use Fixed mode with Ratio at 9-12 o'clock for drum compression on snare and bass drum requiring 2-3 dB of gain reduction
