Imager

Steinberg

Imager is a stereo imaging plugin that allows you to expand or reduce the stereo width of your audio across up to 4 independent frequency bands. Each band can be adjusted separately in defined frequency domains, making it distinctive for surgical control over stereo image across the frequency spectrum with optional analog-style or linear phase filter modes.

Key Features

01Up to 4 frequency bands
02Live mode for analog-style filtering with no latency
03Linear phase filter bank mode
04Phase scope display for each band showing phase/amplitude relationships
05Phase correlation meter (-1 to +1 scale)
06Independent width control per band
07Pan control per band
08Output level control per band
09Solo band functionality

Things to Try

  • 01Activate Live mode for analog-style filtering with zero latency suitable for live performances
  • 02Observe the phase scope display to identify if the shape is vertical (mono), horizontal (inverted phase), or rounded (balanced stereo)
  • 03Use the phase correlation meter to confirm mono signals show +1 and inverted signals show -1
  • 04Adjust Width control to expand or reduce stereo image, and use Pan control to shift the left-right balance for each frequency band
