Plugin Library

Search filters your library as you type. It looks at more than the plugin name — the vendor, the category, the description, the words we use for how something sounds, and the jobs it's good at are all searchable. So "saturation" finds saturation whether or not that word is in any plugin's name.

Basic Search

Open the search bar

Click the search bar at the top of your library, or press Cmd/Ctrl + F to focus it instantly.

Type your query

Enter any text to search. Results appear as you type. You can search by:

Plugin name (e.g., "Pro-Q", "Serum")
Vendor/brand (e.g., "FabFilter", "Xfer")
Category (e.g., "compressor", "sampler")
A word from the description (e.g., "transparent", "vintage")
A word describing the sound or the job (e.g., "gritty", "vocals")

Select a result

Click any result to open that plugin's page.

Quick tip

Press Escape to clear the search and return to your full library view.

Searching by Description

When you can't remember what something is called, a word that describes it will often still find it — the description, the sound words and the use cases we keep for each plugin are all part of what gets matched.

Example searches:

"warm" - anything whose description or sound words mention warmth
"vocals" - anything you'd reach for on a vocal, by its use cases
"analog" - anything whose description leans analog
"fabfilter" - everything from one vendor, no operator needed

Shorter is better

Search matches the text you type as one continuous phrase, not as separate words. So "warm" matches a plugin described as "warm analog character", but "warm EQ" only matches if those two words appear together in that order. If a search comes back empty, drop it to a single word.

Search Operators

Use search operators to narrow down results more precisely:

vendor:fabfilter

Show only plugins from a specific vendor

category:compressor

Show one category — category:eq, category:reverb, category:synth, and so on

type:effect

Split effects from instruments. type:instrument for the other side; type:fx and type:inst are shorthand for the same thing

Only these three

vendor:, category: and type: are the whole list. Anything else with a colon in it is treated as ordinary text, so it will search for those literal characters and almost certainly come back empty.

Combine operators

You can combine operators with regular search terms. For example: vendor:waves compressor finds all Waves compressors in your library.

Search vs. Recommendations

Both search and the recommendation assistant help you find plugins, but they serve different purposes:

Use Search when:

You know what you're looking for
You want to browse your collection
You need quick, precise results

Use Recommendations when:

You need suggestions for a task
You want to describe a sound/goal
You're not sure which plugin to use
