Linear Phase EQ is an 8-band equalizer plugin for Logic Pro that preserves phase coherence across the entire frequency spectrum. Unlike Channel EQ, it uses advanced technology to maintain signal phase even with extreme EQ curves, making it ideal for mastering and multi-microphone recordings where phase alignment between tracks is critical.

Things to Try

  • 01Set Linear Phase EQ to flat response, turn on the Analyzer, and play audio to identify peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum for targeted adjustments
  • 02Use bands 2-7 to adjust center frequencies for specific frequencies you want to emphasize or eliminate, combined with high Q values for narrow frequency ranges
  • 03Process Mid-Side recordings by inserting separate Linear Phase EQ instances set to Mid Only and Side Only modes, reducing low frequencies in Side mode and sculpting lows in Mid mode
  • 04Use steep cut filters on bands 1 and 8 to control high-pass and low-pass slopes while monitoring transient impact with the Analyzer
