Rotor

PreSonus

Rotor is a rotary speaker effect that simulates the sound of a tube-powered amplifier with independently rotating high-mid horn and bass woofer, as found on classic electric organs. It excels at adding a sense of motion and unique tonal character to organ sounds, guitars, or any source, featuring realistic braking and acceleration effects between preset speeds.

Key Features

01Independent woofer and horn rotation with dual-slider speed controls
02State Space Modeling amp drive and resonance emulation
03Position control with Distance, Balance, and Spread parameters
04Off/On and Slow/Fast toggle controls with smooth transitions
05Virtual microphone positioning for pronounced or diffuse stereo effects

Things to Try

  • 01Set Woofer Speed and Horn Speed to different values for contrasting rotations between the two speaker elements
  • 02Use Distance control at low settings for pronounced stereo sweeping, or higher settings for subtler, more diffuse effects
  • 03Adjust Balance to blend between woofer (fully down) and horn (fully up) for desired tonal balance
  • 04Use Drive at higher settings for overdriven tone and lower settings for cleaner sound, and adjust Horn Q for a more pronounced or flat midrange resonance
