Complex-1 is a monophonic/duophonic (paraphonic) modular synthesizer with a 4x oversampled synthesis engine and freely routable signal and modulation paths. It combines West Coast (Buchla-inspired) and East Coast (Moog-inspired) module designs—including the Complex Oscillator, Low Pass Gates, Shaper, and ladder-design Filter—enabling creation of both glitchy modular textures and accessible instrument sounds including beefy basses.

Things to Try

  • 01Modulate the Shaper's Shape Modulation input from a Shaper output to create recursive distortion effects
  • 02Route the Complex Oscillator's 1-2 output (Oscillator 1 minus Oscillator 2) to the Filter for phase cancellation effects
  • 03Sync the Noise module from an oscillator signal and modulate its Color parameter from the Key output with full modulation amount to play resonant or band noise chromatically
  • 04Set the Comb Delay Feedback high and disable the input signal to achieve self-oscillation, then modulate Pitch from the Key output for pitched delay effects
