Reason Studios

The DDL-1 Digital Delay Line is a mono delay effect with stereo panning capabilities that synchronizes to song tempo. It functions as both a send and insert effect, offering tempo-based rhythmic delays or free-time millisecond delays for creating synchronized echo patterns or ambient effects.

Key Features

01Tempo-synchronized delay with Steps or MS (milliseconds) modes
02Maximum delay time of 2000 ms with up to 16 rhythmic steps
03Step Length control for sixteenth notes (1/16) or eighth triplet notes (1/8T)
04Pan control to position delay effect left or right in stereo
05Feedback CV input for dynamic echo repeat control
06Pan CV input for moving delay effects
07Wet/Dry balance for insert effect use
08Works as both send and insert effect

Things to Try

  • 01Use Steps mode at different step lengths and set LFO-style modulation via Pan CV for moving stereo delay effects
  • 02Set Feedback CV input with a Matrix pattern to create dub-type echoes triggered on specific beats
  • 03Switch from Steps mode to MS mode after establishing a rhythmic delay to fine-tune the exact timing
  • 04Activate Send mode and route to mixer AUX for blending with dry signal while maintaining tempo sync
