Polar is a dual pitch shifter Rack Extension for Reason Studios designed to add real-time pitch manipulation, modulation capabilities, and filter processing to audio. Drawing inspiration from classic '80s harmonizing effect units but with modern enhancements, Polar excels at everything from micro-pitch thickening to dramatic special effects, with dedicated controls for creating everything from subtle widening to twisted, modulated pitch shifts.

01Dual independent pitch shifters with Shift and Fine controls (±2 octaves, ±0.5 semitones)
02Four pitch algorithms: Smooth, Classic, Loop, and Reverse Loop with variable analysis speeds (Slow/Medium/Fast)
03Stereo delay buffer (400ms default, expandable to 1600ms with 4X button) with feedback controls for repeating pitch effects
04Multi-mode filter section with Lowpass, Bandpass, Highpass, and Comb filters (12dB/Octave)
05LFO and Envelope modulation for pitch, filter, delay, and auto-pan parameters
06MIDI keyboard control and CV modulation inputs for comprehensive real-time control

Things to Try

  • 01Select Classic algorithm for rougher '80s-style harmonizing sounds, or Smooth for high-quality polyphonic material
  • 02Choose Fast mode for vocals with lowest latency (~24ms), Medium mode (~48ms) for drums and bass, or Slow mode (~96ms) for complex polyphonic audio
  • 03Turn up Feedback knobs with Delay enabled to create continuously decreasing pitches on pitched-down audio or continuously increasing pitches on pitched-up audio
  • 04Pan Pitch Shifter 1 and 2 hard left and right with slight Fine detuning, then turn up the Pitch Shifter 2 Delay knob for a wide pseudo-stereo effect
