Linear Phase EQ

Waves

Linear Phase EQ is a mastering-grade equalizer plugin that uses linear phase filtering to provide precision equalization without phase shift or transient smearing. It offers transparent, musical tonal control across the entire frequency spectrum while preserving the original harmonic balance, making it ideal for critical mastering work and detailed frequency manipulation.

Key Features

016 bands in Broadband component (LF band 22Hz–1kHz, 5 main bands 258Hz–21.9kHz)
023 additional bands in Lowband component (11Hz–600Hz) for surgical low-frequency control
039 filter types per main band: 2 shelf types, 2 cut filter types, and bell filters with variable slope and resonant analog modes
043 Design Implementation Methods (Normal, Accurate, Low Ripple) for frequency-dependent response optimization
05±30dB gain range per band with real-time parameter adjustment on 5 main bands
06Linear phase processing with constant delay across all frequencies (no phase distortion)
07Finite Impulse Response (FIR) engine with 24-bit clean processing
08Output gain fader, auto-trim control, and clip detection

Things to Try

  • 01Use the Accurate method for narrow notch cuts above 12dB to achieve the designed depth at the cutoff frequency
  • 02Select the Low Ripple method when creating hi-cut filters to reduce stop-band ripple coloration at the cost of slope steepness
  • 03Use Option-drag (Alt-drag on Windows) horizontally on a band marker to adjust Q without changing gain
  • 04Enable the Lowband component for frequencies below 600Hz to avoid shelving side effects from wide bells in the main broadband LF band
