Q10

Waves

The Q10 is a versatile 10-band paragraphic equalizer offering surgical precision for problem-solving and creative sound shaping. Each band features six selectable filter types with independent control of gain, frequency, and Q, providing extreme flexibility from subtle corrective EQ to dramatic spectral modifications.

Key Features

01Up to 10 independent parametric EQ bands with flexible configuration (1-10 bands)
02Six filter types per band: Bell, Low Shelf, High Shelf, Low-pass, High-pass, and Proportional Q
03Proportional Q filter automatically narrows as gain increases for intuitive frequency targeting
04Dual interface modes (Modern and Legacy) with Full and Focused view options
05Graphic and parametric control sections with real-time visual feedback
06Mono and stereo components with independent L/R channel control and linking
07Trim function with automatic gain optimization to prevent clipping
08Extreme Q range (0.5-100) enabling both broad tonal shaping and surgical notching

Things to Try

  • 01Use high Q with large boost to locate problematic sounds, then convert to deep cuts for surgical notching
  • 02Employ Proportional Q filters to dial in high gain for narrow targeting, then lower gain to widen the effect smoothly
  • 03Drag across the graphic display to find frequencies on-the-fly while listening
  • 04Toggle individual bands on/off during mixing to compare their impact versus full plugin bypass
  • 05Use Alt+drag on band markers to adjust Q width without changing gain or frequency
  • 06Set Input fader to -3dB to -6dB for normalized or high-peak files to prevent internal clipping
