Rotor is a Propellerhead Rack Extension that simulates a rotary speaker, providing vibrato/tremolo/chorus-like effects commonly used on tonewheel organs and other instruments. It faithfully recreates the classic Leslie cabinet design with independently rotating bass drum and treble horn running at Slow, Fast, or stopped speeds, while adding modern tweakable parameters for extended sonic customization.

Things to Try

  • 01Modulate the Filter frequency of a synthesizer device from the Horn Rotation CV output while letting a slow LFO CV signal modulate the Slow/Fast Gate CV input for interesting acceleration and deceleration of the modulated frequency
  • 02Use the Stop lamp to stop the rotors at random positions for varying sound character with each click
  • 03Adjust the X-Over Freq above 12 o'clock to route more frequency content to the bass speaker, or below to route more to the horn
  • 04Set Mic Distance to low values (close distances) for prominent stereo rotation effect of the horn, or high values (long distances) for subtle stereo effect
